Pedegree for Grouse Points Colonel Klaus

Grouse Points Colonel Klaus, MH, NA-I, UT-I is owned and handled by my good friend and helper CJ Haskins. CJ got Klaus as a pup at 8 weeks old. Klaus is out of "Otto", VC Grouse Points Otto-Matic, NA-I, UT-I and "T-Bird", VC Quail Ridge Phoenix Rising, MH, NA-I, UT-I.  That litter went on to earn a NAVHDA Natural Ability Breeder Award.

CJ was training part time with me after getting Klaus in the spring of 2017. He trained and handled Klaus that summer and ran him in a NAVHDA natural ability test at the St Croix chapter in August, earning a 107 point prize I.  That fall CJ went off to college at South Dakota State U, where he got to hunt pheasants, sharptail grouse, and ducks in his spare time. His dad brought Klaus out from Minnesota when he could and got Kluas some experience on wild birds.

Last summer, 2018, CJ stayed here at Grouse Point and mentored with me. We went through all the training Klaus would need to do well at the NAVHDA Utility test. Bench work first, then retrieve training, all the way through line drills before we started on duck search. Klaus had some experience with wild ducks the previous year and that definately sped up the learning curve. We went on to finish his field work all the way through steady to wing, shot, and fall.

In August of 2018 CJ and Klaus tested at the Utility level with the St Croix chapter. They had a great day with both his parents there and they earned a 201 pt. Utility Prize I and qualified Klaus for the 2019 NAVHDA Invitational. This summer CJ will be back to work here at Grouse Point, training his way along with me to the 2019 NAVHDA Invitational.
