A nice fall chromer caught near McNeil's on the Brule River. We were on a canoe trip on the lower Brule when we spotted a group of fish holding under a log jam. Matt decided to try a spinner to see if one of these fish would come out of thier hidey hole. As I recall it took only one or two casts with a Mepps spinner to entice this fish to hit. We fished the hole for another hour without anything and decided to leave. As we canoed away we spotted at least eight fish just sitting there under the logs. This fish was released to fight again another day.

She's learning early how exciting steelhead fishing can be. And I think she probably likes there smell. She would fetch them up every time if we allowed it. As it is it can be hard to keep her away when you hook the big one.

Bob is the reason that I took up steelheading. He is in my heart every day on the river.

Hansel at 8 or 9 months. He is a very staunch pointer, he excels in the open field.

These are young dogs doing some very good field work. I can't wait until we've all had more training and experience together.
