Gun Dog Training
Tan - learning to overcome obstacles.
Tan - learning to overcome obstacles.
I am currently working with Dennis and Jan Anderson of Britishlabs.com, taking on some of thier pups and dogs for obiedience and retriever training. I will also train other retrievers and pointers. I will be working with a limited number of dogs at any one time, as I believe that each dog needs to have a fair amount of personal time each day. Too many dogs in the kennel and then none get the time they deserve. I will try to work out a training regimine for each dog, rather than fit all dogs into a set program. When you bring your dog to our kennel for training I will sit down with you to assess yours and your dogs training needs and expectations. All dogs that come to the kennel will get a refresher course on obiedience before we begin thier gun dog training. Dogs in our kennel will recieve a good deal of personal attention every day. They will also have the opportunity to socialize with many other dogs and people.

Some of you may be interested in competeing with your dog in the AKC or NAVHDA hunt test programs. I will get your dog trained and ready to run either by me our if you prefer by yourself. If you want to handle the dog on test day yourself there will be some training time involved for you as well. This will be an excellent chance for you to learn to handle your dog at the highest level. The training time involved in getting you and your dog ready for a hunt test is also very benificial later when you are in the field hunting your dog. The AKC and NAVHDA hunt tests are set up to simulate some of the hunting conditions that you may experience with your dog when in the field hunting for real.

My rates for training, boarding, and test handling, are very competetive. The dogs will be well taken care of and will be fed high quality dog food. Currently I am feeding Eagle Pack Power Formula. Power Formula has a protien content of 30% and a fat content of 20%. High quality dog food is a must for dogs that hunt and compete. When nessisary they will also get the best of Veterinary care. My veterinary doctors are Jerry and Brian Woods of The Rice Lake Animal Hospital. It is manditory that your dog be up to date with all vaccinations and I do require that your dog be immunized for Bordatella (kennel cough) before you bring the dog to our kennel. I also require that you bring a copy of your immunization records and AKC regisrtation certificate to be kept on file here.

Your dog will be keep in a clean and well maintained kennel run. All the runs have there own Kuranda Dog Beds. We also have several of the T.E. Scott type kennels for those that are used to being in an outside kennel. We have two, approx. 4000 sq. ft. fenced in excercize yards, where the dogs get to run and socialize several times every day. There is also a fenced in area approx 1 1/2 acres. We have nearly 40 acres of training fields adjacent to the kennels where your dog will recieve a large portion of his training. They will also be excercized here on an individual basis. There is also a pond on the property that is excellent for water work, with medium to heavy cover on the perimeters. I will also have your dog at other off property training fields and ponds as well. Rarely will your dog see the same field or pond more that twice, other than the ones that are on the property. It is important for your hunting dog to see many different scenarios during his training process.
